Snow Work

Good day to all 6 of you - you now have the responsibility of texting the remaining 15 who're not yet following my wonderful blog.

The purpose of setting up the blog was for occasions such as this. As luck would have it, I don't actually have any Year 13 today (or yesterday for that matter) but I thought i'd give some words of wisdom and ideas in case other subjects haven't been forthcoming.

As it is, both classes have the task on Critically Analysing Language Games and Bethan's class has the Life and Death essay as well. Both classes may find the following quotes useful at some point so please make a note of them:

"We must no more ask whether the soul and body are one than ask whether the wax and figure impressed on it are one." (Aristotle - Body and Soul topic)

"Truth is hard to tell. It sometimes needs fiction to make it plausible." (Francis Bacon - this is a cracker to use in the 'myth' section)

The next 2 are especially for Charlotte....

1) We have 2 ears and 1 mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak. (Epictetus)
2) It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it (Aristotle). This second one could also go against the narrowmindedness of Verificationists and Falsificationists.

The last part of this section is the known as the 'Via Negative' or 'Via Negativa'. It's tricky but do some independent research in preparation for next lesson. After that it's mindmap and PPQ time.

Enjoy and keep getting stuck in.

Mr Rainey
